Farmers in Maharashtra will use green energy to lead the state to the second green revolution, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Tuesday (Dec 24, 2024).
“Adoption of green energy will pave the way for the farmers of Maharashtra to lead the second green revolution in the near future,” he said after launching Chief Minister Surya Krishi Vahini Project 2.0, inaugurating solar projects at Umbartha and Narangwadi in Washim district. Mr. Fadnavis said the project would ensure sustainable and free electricity to farmers during the day. Now the state is providing 16,000 megawatts of electricity to farmers. Efforts have been going on for two years to convert all these feeders into solar energy. Gradually, this transition will be completed, enabling farmers to access electricity during daylight hours,” he said.
The state is working towards creating solar-powered villages, ensuring farmers benefit from clean, renewable energy. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that these initiatives would empower farmers and bring about a transformative change in the agricultural landscape of Maharashtra.
Farmers from Umbertha and Narangwadi villages also participated in the program through video conference to see the inauguration of the solar project.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who took charge as the state’s finance minister on Tuesday (December 24, 2024), directed the administration to streamline and enhance the process of tax collection and revenue generation.
Mr. Pawar took charge of Finance, Planning, and Excise Departments in the State Secretariat, Ministry. He chaired meetings with officials to ensure effective results by improving tax collection and revenue generation processes. He also reviewed the pending schemes, current revenue situation and funding requirements. The CPN Chairman emphasized the need for a plan that prioritizes the interests of farmers and the common people.
He has also instructed the authorities to take strict action against tax evaders.
