Controversy erupted over the ‘wrong Indian map’ in the Congress session Bangalore News

Posters displayed by the Congress to commemorate the centenary of the 1924 Congress session in Belagavi, Karnataka, have sparked controversy over an alleged misinterpretation of a map of India, dubbed by the BJP as “vote bank” politics by the national party.

The ruling Congress has put up these posters all over Belagavi city during the centenary celebrations.

According to the BJP, the Indian map depicted on the posters omits the Gilgit region of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the Aksai Chin region currently under Chinese administration, which is an integral part of Jammu and Kashmir.

The national unit of the BJP has strongly criticized the Congress.

The post on ‘X’ said, “Raagko Mohabbat ki Dukan is always open to China! They will tear the nation apart. They did it once. They will do it again.” BJP’s Karnataka unit blamed the “misrepresentation” of the Indian map for its “vote bank”. The way to satisfy is said.

“@INCKarnataka, portraying Kashmir as a part of Pakistan, has completely disrespected India’s sovereignty by showing a distorted map at its Belagavi event. All this is to satisfy their vote bank. It’s embarrassing!” The party posted on ‘X’.

Hitting out at the Congress, BJP’s Vijayapura MLA Basanagowda Patil Yatnal demanded that the police register a case against the organizers.

“Publishing a false map of India is not only a violation of geospatial information standards, but also a violation of the law,” Yatnal said in a post on ‘X’.

According to him, showing a wrong map of India is a clear offense under Section 74 of the IPC. It is also a violation under the National Honor Act.

“This is how Congress celebrates its historic CWC session by distorting India’s map, not showing PoK as Indian territory. Shame on @INCKarnataka.” “I appeal to @SPBelagavi to immediately file a case against the organizers for wrongly depicting the map of India,” he said.
