CM: Invest in Bengal’s Silicon Valley, potential of Rs 27 thousand crore | Kolkata News

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday invited industrialists to collaborate with West Bengal and said the Bengal Silicon Valley has an investment potential of Rs 27,000 crore and the potential to create 75,000 job opportunities. Urging industrialists to invest in the state, she assured full support from the government.

Addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the 50-acre campus of Infosys’ development center in Kolkata’s New Town on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said, β€œThis is a historic day, not only for Infosys but also for us. The entire IT industry. We grew during the financial crisis. Come here, invest a lot, our government will provide all kinds of support.”

Banerjee said that Bengal is a leading destination for the IT industry. “Bengal is a land for all. Bengal is a leading IT state and you will get the best talent pool from here. We are number one in terms of talent pool in India. Today, I can say, we have fulfilled our dream,” the Chief Minister said.

Additionally, Mamata Banerjee pointed out that the state has 22 IT parks and the aim should be to establish a “Bengal Silicon Valley like America”.

β€œWe have established Bengal Silicon Valley like America. We have already invested 200 crores there. This Silicon Valley has an investment potential of Rs 27,000 crore and can employ 75,000 people. We have set up 22 IT parks, where nearly 85 per cent are occupied,’ she said.

Others present at the inauguration ceremony included Infosys Chief Financial Officer Jayesh Sanghrajka and other senior officials of the state government and Infosys.

“This significant investment in West Bengal furthers our commitment to foster innovation and empower our workforce across India. The development center will not only drive business growth but also contribute to enhancing the IT landscape in the state. By leveraging our rich talent pool in West Bengal, we will serve our clients globally We aim to provide state-of-the-art solutions,” Sanghrajka said.

Meanwhile, the CM directed local Trinamool Congress leader Saikat Molla that Infosys should not face any kind of problem.

β€œYou (Saikat) should help in every way. It is the border of West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police and there should be good cooperation between them. They (Infosys) should work very smoothly and peacefully.

Infosys, a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, on Wednesday announced the inauguration of its new state-of-the-art facility in Kolkata at an investment of over Rs 426 crore, designed to accommodate over 4,000,000 employees. A hybrid working model.
