In July 2013, a five-year-old boy, a native of Kumili, was admitted to a private hospital in Kattappana with serious injuries. The doctor reported the incident to Childline and the police and revealed that the child was brutally tortured by the father and stepmother. His brain is injured and his body is bruised.
