Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi and discussed various issues, including the resumption of the Amravati and Polavaram projects, and the progress made by NDA allies since taking office in the state. In June 2024.
Shri Naidu sought financial assistance from the Central Government for these two major projects. He also highlighted how the previous government spent funds for 94 centrally sponsored schemes, and informed Mr. Modi that 74 of those schemes have been restarted.
Shri Naidu apprised the Prime Minister about ArcelorMittal’s proposal to set up a steel plant in Andhra Pradesh. He demanded the necessary approval from the center and supply of raw materials.
Revenue deficit subsidy
The Chief Minister pointed out that the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government had ended the revenue deficit subsidy for five years within three years, and requested Mr. Modi to provide more financial assistance.
Mr. Naidu explained the State’s plans and development strategies laid out in the ‘Swarnaandhra Vision 2047’ document and sought the support of the Central Government for its implementation.
Mr. Naidu also discussed the major projects slated for inauguration by the Prime Minister during his last visit to the state in January 2025.
Earlier, Mr. Naidu attended an NDA meeting at the residence of BJP National President JP Nadda. He met Union Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy and discussed steps to strengthen the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).
Shri Naidu interacted with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav while laying the foundation stone of the South Coastal Railway Regional Headquarters in Visakhapatnam. They also discussed various rail projects including connectivity with Amravati.
The Chief Minister met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed the release of central funds to various departments. He appealed for special financial support to overcome the shortage of funds.

In the morning, Mr. Naidu paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his last birth centenary at his memorial ‘Sadaiv Atal’.
