Catching the tiger: Injunction order, plan to ambush Zeenat Kolkata News

The Purulia district administration has imposed a prohibitory order in the bandhwan area where a three-year-old tigress that escaped from Odisha’s Similipal National Park earlier this month is currently located.

It was after the forest departments of West Bengal and Odisha brought the controversial hula party (villagers with spears used to drive away elephants) and more regional activists and officials to Purulia that they planned to push Zeenat, Baghi, into an attack. Be calm and occupied.

“Now our plan is to create an environment where the tiger is cornered for an ambush. Then we can try to calm it down,” said Deval Roy, Chief Wildlife Conservator, West Bengal.

“Abundance of paluva sheep is creating a big problem for us to catch tigers. In the area where he was, the bodies of two more sheep from the neighboring village were found. So he shows no interest in the animals we keep as fodder,” added Roy.

Meanwhile, West Bengal police and forest department officials continued to alert villagers and tourists in the bandh forest areas, prohibiting them from going out alone or entering the forest areas.
