Body in the parcel: To hide the incident, the accused threw the body in the canal

According to the police, the main accused in the case of taking the dead body of a man from a parcel to a woman in Yendagandi of West Godavari district tried to hide the incident by throwing the dead body in a nearby canal.

Sagi Tulsi, a woman living with her daughter in Yendagandi of Undi mandal, found the dead body in a parcel box on November 19 (Thursday).

The Undi police, which registered the case, questioned Ms. Tulsi and her family members in connection with the case. However, Tulsi’s sister Revathi’s husband Siddharth Verma has been absconding since the night of 19th January and his mobile phone is also switched off.

During the investigation, it was found that the accused Siddharth Verma tried to persuade Tulsi, her sister Revathi and other family members to settle the case by throwing the body in a nearby canal.

“Tulsi received the parcel box around 5 pm on Thursday. However, it is said that the accused Siddharth Verma discussed with Tulsi, her parents and others that night to destroy the evidence by throwing the body in the canal or Godavari river. A police officer investigating the incident said on condition of anonymity.

Siddharth Verma promised to implement the plan and sought the help of other family members, the official said.

“Suspecting a conspiracy, Tulsi told her well-wishers about the incident and with their help came to the Undi police station,” West Godavari Superintendent of Police Adnan Naeem Asmi said on Sunday (December 22).

Mr. Adnan Naeem, who is monitoring the investigation, said that Siddharth Verma is being searched for and efforts are being made to identify the murdered person.

Eluru range Inspector General of Police (IGP) GVG Ashok Kumar, who reviewed the case with the SP and the special team, said more than one person could be involved in the case.

Mr. Adnan Naeem informed the IGP that no one has claimed the body, which has been deposited at the Government General Hospital Mortuary in Eluru.

“We are trying to find out the reason behind the murder and send the body to Ms. Tulsi. A special team is trying to identify the murdered person,’ said Ashok Kumar.
