Tamil Nadu’s Muslims and Christians should “send vote-seekers home” for their safety, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K. Annamalai said in Coimbatore city on Friday.

Protesting against the Tamil Nadu government for allegedly supporting “terrorist forces”, Mr Annamalai said Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman called Coimbatore blast convict SA Basha his father, and VCK leader Thirumavalavan called him a martyr. The people of Coimbatore should wake up as such “vote asking” has stalled the development of the district. Coimbatore should be under the direct control of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, so that it goes to the next level. It was a time of change (in the kingdom).

While paying tributes to the victims of the 1998 Coimbatore blasts, the Prime Minister held a road show in Coimbatore and also paid tributes to the Muslims killed in the blasts. “For us our identity is Indian and Tamil,” he said. The entire BJP has said that the October 23, 2022 explosion near the Kottai Sangameshwara temple in Coimbatore city was a human bomb. In February of the same year, the blast was planned and seven targets were targeted, including the police commissioner’s office. He claims that people’s lives are in danger and the chief minister called it a cylinder blast and this has revealed the state’s peace and security situation.

Home Minister Amit Shah has assured to consider Tamil Nadu BJP’s appeal for NIA office in Coimbatore, he said.

Mr. Annamalai, Hindu Munnani state president Kadeshwar Subramaniam, Amarnath Shivalingam of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, senior BJP leaders and around 600 others were detained by the police when they took out a rally as part of the protest.
