The Amritsar police on Saturday deepened its investigation into the assassination attempt of former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and began probing the role of the assailant Narayan Singh Chaura’s sons – Jagjit Singh and Baljinder Singh. Both of them were summoned for questioning on Saturday. The police is not only investigating how Chaura got his hands on the sophisticated weapons, but a case is also going on against him for more clues.

According to the police source, the investigation revealed where the pistol was brought from Chaura opened fire on November 4 The same was used in another case registered against him in 2010. According to the police, Chaura hid the pistol somewhere in the field. ‘Chaura was arrested in 2013 in an old case and all the weapons were recovered. It’s amazing how he managed to hide it.”

Speaking to The Indian Express, Chaura’s son Jagjit Singh said the summons was sheer harassment. β€œWe were at the police station till 7pm and they asked everything about our family history. They did not ask anything related to the case,” he said.

Meanwhile, senior SAD leader and former minister Vikram Singh Majithia on Saturday released more videos of Chaura and his movements before the assassination proposal.

New videos show Chaura walking in and out of the Golden Temple for about two hours before the attack. It can also be seen that Sukhveer crossed twice. β€œChaura entered the Golden Temple at 7.30 am on December 3 and Sukhveer was constantly moving around with another person. Who is that person? It seems they conducted a recce and attacked the next day. On December 4, he went to the washroom and then attacked. He may have hidden the weapon there,’ said Majithia.
