Arunachal committed to support GST reforms for economic growth: Deputy Chief Minister

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chauna Meen said the government is committed to supporting GST reforms to promote economic growth and ease compliance by all stakeholders in the state.

Speaking at the 55th GST Council meeting in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer on Saturday (December 21, 2024), Mr. Meen, who also holds the finance portfolio, said the state government is committed to supporting reforms to simplify GST, an official release said. Sunday (December 22, 2024) Itanagar.

“Arunachal Pradesh is dedicated to supporting reforms that simplify the GST framework, ensure fairness and meet the unique needs of our state. These efforts are in line with our vision to facilitate ease of doing business and accelerate growth,” he said.

The meeting, chaired by Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, covered various topics aimed at streamlining the GST framework and making it more inclusive and effective.

Discussions at the meeting focused on key areas aimed at enhancing the GST framework to drive economic growth and improve taxpayer support.

Proposed amendments to strengthen the legal structure of GST were highlighted, efforts to simplify the GST rate structure for goods and services, ease compliance and promote economic activities.

In the meeting, it was emphasized that the grievance redressal mechanism should be strengthened to provide better assistance to the taxpayers.

The agenda included extending exemptions in critical areas such as health and life insurance and research conducted in the wider public interest, advancing procedural rules for the GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) to streamline dispute resolution, and ensuring timely and fair settlement of IGST revenue to states. Mr. Meen expressed support for the recommendations and updates presented in the meeting along with the minutes of the previous GST Council meeting.
