APSCPCR asked the Eluru police to submit a report on the birth of a minor child in a hostel toilet

Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Eluru District Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Siva Kishore has been directed to submit a report of a minor girl giving birth in a hostel toilet in Eluru city on December 8.

The 17-year-old girl, who was studying secondary school in college, was staying in a hostel run by a missionary organization. The student gave birth in the hostel toilet on December 8 (Sunday) afternoon. She threw the newborn from the roof of the hostel into the compound of the house near the hostel.

“Based on the news published in the newspapers, APSCPCR has taken cognizance of the issue itself and has directed the Eluu SP to submit a detailed report,” APSCPCR president Kesali Appa Rao said. Hindu.

“The incident is shocking. How did the staff of the hostel or college (where the girl was studying) fail to detect the pregnancy of the minor girl? Shri Appa Rao asked.

Meanwhile, APSCPCR member J Rajendra Prasad inspected the hostel building and the premises where the child was allegedly dumped and where the infant’s body was found.

Mr. Rajendra Prasad said that the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Eluru District Police have been instructed to investigate the incident from all angles.

The APSCPCR will make some recommendations to the Andhra Pradesh government about the weaknesses in the institution and the negligence of the officials, if any, the chairman said.

“APSCPCR has directed Eluru SP to submit the report at the earliest,” said Mr. Rajendra Prasad.
