Although the details of Thakur’s statement are not clear, it could be a response to the ongoing tension between the Congress government and the BJP in Telangana.
“If you look at the contribution of Telugu actors in the film industry, they have put film and Indian cinema on the global map. But some people are trying to drag them to the floor map,” Anurag Thakur told ANI.
The BJP leader was reacting to the Telangana Police action against actor Allu Arjun when there was a stampede at the theater during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2.
“If you look at the last few years, Allu Arjun won the National Award under the Narendra Modi government, Chiranjeevi got the Lifetime Achievement Award and the whole country and the world appreciated their contribution. On the other hand, look at films. Be it RR, Pushpa, KGF, Baahubali. , all these have brought fame to Indian cinema, instead of creating controversy, we should try to communicate, take care of security and not politics,’ he added.
Anurag Thakur said that the statements of Congress leaders and MLAs of the state raised question marks on the intentions of the state government.
