Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy said on Thursday (December 19) that good days are coming for the athletes of the state due to the new steps taken by the government to bring about revolutionary changes in the sports sector.

Speaking at the launch of ‘Kreeda’ app in Vijayawada, the minister said that they are doing everything to transform AP into a sports hub. “Bringing sports and technology together is a step in the right direction,” he said, adding that the app is designed to help identify talent, collect and analyze data related to players and events.

The previous government damaged the sports sector during its five-year rule. Though we cannot bring change overnight, we can do it step by step,” said the minister while praising the efforts of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) and sports associations to encourage new talent in rural areas.

SAAP President Animini Ravi Naidu said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s vision is transforming the state. “Countless sportspersons who have brought the issue of fake certificates to the authorities’ attention over the years will finally be brought to justice. The app will ensure complete transparency in administration,’ he said.

SAAP managing director PS Girisha, who was also present, said AP was the first state in the country to issue digital certificates to players. After the tournament is over and the results are announced, the certificates are generated in the app and stored in DigiLocker, which players can access anytime.

“All athletes and sports associations can access the app for free. Information about upcoming district, state, national and international competitions can be found in the app. A sportsperson can also register his name in the app. Public grievances can also be addressed,” Girisha said. SAAP officials and players from across the state were present.
