Leaders of various student organizations have requested the government to reimburse the remaining fees of Rs 3,580 crore and issue scholarships.
The round table discussion organized by All India Students Union (AISF), National Students Union of India (NSUI), Students Union of India (SFI), Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU), YSR Students participated. Accusing the government of delay in releasing funds for Vidya Divena (fee reimbursement) and Vasathi Divena (hostel fee reimbursement), they said they have left helpless students at the mercy of the college management.
They said that due to the lack of clarity regarding the refund of fees during admissions and examinations, the colleges have exploited the students financially, adding to their problems. Some students were forced to consider extreme measures such as ending their lives, they said.
Stating that the neglect of the TDP-led coalition government in the state was harming the educational interests of the students, they said that the failure of the government on their pleas may force them to resort to state-wide protests.
