An explosion was heard outside a police station in Punjab’s Gurdaspur. Investigate

“An explosion-like sound heard outside the Wadala Bangar police post in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district sparked panic in the area, prompting police to launch an investigation,” officials said on Saturday (December 21, 2024).

“This is the third incident in the last seven days. On December 17, a bomb exploded at the Islamabad police station in Amritsar. No one was injured. According to officials, the Gurdaspur incident took place on Friday (December 20, 2024) at 9.30 pm. Locals informed the police after hearing what sounded like a bomb blast.

However, the police said that nothing that could have caused an explosion was found at the scene. Senior police officers including Gurdaspur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dayama Harish Kumar Om Prakash and Superintendent of Police (SP) Jugraj Singh visited the spot.

“After some locals informed the Deputy Superintendent of Police, the control room was also informed. Senior officials rushed to the spot,” said Mr. Kumar.

“There was a report that some noise was heard. After reaching the spot, we found that the glass of a door was broken and bricks were lying nearby. We are investigating the matter,” he added.

This incident took place two days after the suspicious explosion outside Bakshiwal police station in Gurdaspur. In an unverified post circulating on social media, the terrorist outfit Khalistan Zindabad Force claimed responsibility.
