Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday that she will visit Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district on December 30 to preside over a public distribution programme.
“I will go to Sandeshkhali on December 30 to preside over the public distribution programme. People asked me before the election whether I would go without a message. I told them that I will go later,” he told reporters in Nabanna after convening a cabinet meeting. ‘There will be a government program. We completed the remaining programs under ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’, ‘Bangalar Bari’… Around 20,000 beneficiaries in the region will benefit from the state-run schemes…,” she said.
Earlier this year, there were protests in Sandeshkhali over alleged sexual harassment and land grabbing incidents against suspended TMC’s Shah Jahan Sheikh.
