HyderabadAfter a 19-year-old girl committed suicide at her residence on Thursday, the Jawaharnagar police arrested a laborer on the charge of abetment of suicide.
According to IO Idris Ali, the charges in the FIR were changed on Thursday after the mother gave a statement to the police. It is said that Shivratri Nikhil, the neighbor of the accused deceased, was a labourer.
“The two knew each other. When the girl’s family decided to marry another man, Nikhil threatened to make her private pictures viral,” said Ali.
Unable to bear the blackmailing conspiracy, it is alleged that the girl took extreme measures. The case was initially registered under Section 194 of the BNS, but later it was changed to Section 108 (incitement to suicide).
The accused has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
