Student admissions canceled after dramatic protest in front of VNSGU VC, face police action Ahmedabad news

Surat’s Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) witnessed high drama on Wednesday when a postgraduate first-year student started demonstrating in front of Vice-Chancellor Dr KN Chawda by emptying liquor bottles. campus. Emphasizing that such indiscipline action will not be tolerated, the Vice-Chancellor said that the process of canceling his admission has been initiated.

Surat police have also been informed about the incident to take action against the students, university officials said.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when Dr. Chawda was present along with Registrar Dr. RC Garhvi and other staff members at the 51st Youth Festival held at the campus’s Conventional Hall. Students from various colleges affiliated to the university are participating in the cultural festival which started from Wednesday.

While the Vice-Chancellor was going towards his car with the stock of food arrangements, a student carrying ammunition ran towards him and emptied several bottles of IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) near the car.

Though shocked by the incident, the authorities called the security guards and it is said that about 15 bottles of liquor were removed from the spot. VNSGU Chancellor Dr KN Chawda said, “We will not tolerate such discipline in the educational institution. We have initiated the process of canceling his admission and the police have also started an investigation. The student later came to me to apologize.

The registrar Dr RC Gadhvi had given a request to Vesu police to investigate the incident on Wednesday.

Police inspector JI Patel of Vesu police station said, “After preliminary investigation, we have found that two days ago BJP’s student organization ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) was selected for various posts in the university campus. Kataria is an active member of ABVP and offered his name for a post in the organization. He has not been given any organizational position. This enraged the student and he brought empty liquor bottles and emptied them near the VC’s car to protest.

He added, “Even though Gujarat is a dry state, we will investigate from where he got the liquor bottles.”
