DCA officials have raided two medical shops in Hyderabad for operating without licence

Hyderabad: Drug Control Administration (DCA) officials raided Shree Sai Bhawani Medical and General Store at Wampuguda in Kapra, Medchal-Malkazgiri district and Banda Maisamma Clinic at Banda Maisamma Nagar in Hyderabad for operating illegally without a valid medicine license.

During two raids, DCA officials discovered unauthorized stockpiling of large quantities of drugs for sale. Antibiotics, steroids, anti-ulcer drugs, IV fluid, high blood pressure drugs, etc., and 76 types of drugs were found available for sale in those two shops. Officials have charged Rs. 35,000 during the raid.

Officials took the samples for analysis. Necessary action will be taken against all criminals as per law and further investigation will be done.

The wholesalers and dealers who supply drugs to such unlicensed entities who store and sell drugs without obtaining a drug license will be punished according to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Wholesalers and dealers must ensure that the recipient organizations have a valid drug license before supplying the drug to them. DCA issues drug licenses for storage and sale of drugs as per the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. There is a legal provision for imprisonment for up to five years if found to be storing drugs without obtaining a drug license.

DCA officials in Khammam region discovered an Ayurvedic medicine ‘Kondapindi leaf powder’, with misleading claims on its label that it treats ‘kidney stones’ in violation of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Offensive Advertisements) Act, 1954. The Drugs and Magic Remedies (Offensive Advertisement) Act-1954 prohibits the advertisement of certain drugs for the treatment of certain diseases and disorders. No person shall participate in the publication of advertisements relating to diseases/disorders mentioned under the Act.
