Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin on Wednesday (December 18, 2024) said that only those who protect the country, people and constitution will take the name of revolutionary BR Ambedkar. “They should pronounce Ambedkar’s name,” he added.
Responding to the debate on the Constitution on Tuesday (December 17, 2024), Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks came amid an uproar in Parliament regarding Dr BR Ambedkar in his speech in the Rajya Sabha.
Mr. Shah said it was now “fashionable” to say “Ambedkar, Ambedkar” but if the opposition used God’s name repeatedly, “they would have reached heaven”.
In response to the statement, Mr Stalin said in a social media post that “only the most sinful should worry about virtue.”
