Hyderabad: KR Suresh Reddy, leader of the BRS parliamentary party, on Tuesday called for tightening the loose ends in the anti-swamp law and demarcating Telangana in a way that would do justice.
Speaking during the debate on the constitution in the Rajya Sabha, Suresh Reddy said while delimitation was welcome, the process “should not punish states like Telangana. States like us contribute to the development of the country and should not be penalized because we have a small population.”
The BRS leader praised the Constitution, and cited Article 3 of the Constitution under whose provisions Telangana emerged as a state “at the culmination of the 12-year struggle of our leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao with the participation of all sections of the society” and many sacrifices. their lives. Jana Jagran, Suresh Reddy said, “pressured the Government of India to grant statehood” and added that he also thanked the Congress and the BJP at the Center for understanding the sentiments of the people.
Once Telangana was formed, he said, there were prophets of doom which proved wrong and today the state has emerged from the most backward region to the most progressive state in the country.
“It is the Constitution and the Directive Principles that guided KCR on this journey. The then ruler (of the erstwhile Hyderabad state) was the richest man in the world, and in the last 10 years we have made the people of Telangana the richest in the country by contributing 4.8% to the number 1 state in per capita income. in GDP,” he said.
