President Draupadi Murmu said on Tuesday that the increasing participation of women in the medical profession and their significant contribution shows that India is becoming a truly developed society.
Addressing the first convocation of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Mangalagiri near Amravati, he said relentless promotion of holistic health and ensuring health for all should be the guiding principle of every medical professional at the institute.
βThe increasing participation of women in the medical profession and their significant contribution shows that we are becoming a truly developed society. It has also highlighted the fact that our daughters excel in every field when given the opportunity,” said the President.
The government has introduced several schemes, including the Ayushman Bharat Swasthya Bima Yojana, to make treatment accessible to those who face difficulties in accessing treatment, she said.
Murmu said that it is the responsibility of the conscious society as well as the government to ensure that no one is deprived of medical services due to financial or other reasons.
The President said that Indian doctors are leading among developed nations due to their talent and hard work.
He said that people from other countries also come to India for health services.
Saying that India is developing as an important center of affordable medical tourism on the world map, she said that the country’s doctors have an important role to play in this.
‘Priority to people living in rural, tribal and remote areas’
He urged the young doctors to provide healthcare and services to people living in rural, tribal and remote areas.

The foundation stone for AIIMS-Mangalagiri was laid in 2015 and the first batch of MBBS students was inducted on August 30, 2018, which completed its today.
