BJP alleges massive fraud in sand sale

Kakinada: The BJP’s Rajamahendravaram Gramin Samiti has alleged massive fraud in the distribution of sand and asked the district authorities to streamline the supply from the Dunga Purush Samaj.

BJP OBC Morcha state president Rongla Gopi Srinivas and party’s rural constituency president NVBN Achari submitted a representation to District Revenue Officer Sitaram Murthy at the Grievance Hall on Monday.

They alleged that sand was being sold at a high price at the Katheru Boat Society’s ramp and the authorities were not able to supply sand for free. By giving the boat sand ramp to a private contractor, the consumers are being robbed by charging a high price for the sand.

They said that sand is not available for free and the distributor charges three times more amount in the name of agency expenses and political expenses.

During the night, the private agency is using heavy machinery to excavate sand and this will damage the fourth bridge on the Godavari river, the BJP alleged.

“Due to the high price of sand, construction work has been greatly affected, while construction workers are facing problems in their livelihood due to lack of work. The BJP will not remain silent if the situation continues,” it warned.
