Free health camp for workers of Netaji Market completed

VIT founder and vice chancellor G Viswanathan inaugurated the medical camp at the town hall on Sunday.

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) founder and chancellor G Viswanathan inaugurated a free medical camp for workers of the British-era Netaji Market at the town hall here on Sunday.

The press release stated that the camp was organized by the local voluntary organization Thalaimurai Peravai.

The day-long camp included Siddha and Ayurveda treatment sessions along with general health check-up, cardiac evaluation, dental check-up, orthopedic tests.

Free medicines and tablets were also distributed to the participants in the program. Those requiring advanced treatment were referred to Sri Narayani Hospital where they could receive treatment at subsidized rates through a joint initiative between Thalaimurai Peravai and the hospital.

GV Selvam, Vice President, VIT, and N Balaji, Director, Sri Narayani Group of Institutions presided over the event.

RB Gnanavelu, President, Vellore All Traders Association; P Vasu, President, Netaji Market Vegetable Traders Association; and PDK Maran of Thalaimurai Perwai were present, the statement said.
