Congress leader Sam Pitroda’s smartphone, laptop and server have been hacked repeatedly over the past few weeks by hackers demanding tens of thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency, according to emails sent to those on his mailing list.
“They have warned that if I don’t pay, they will contact people in my network to start a smear and misinformation campaign to tarnish my reputation,” Pitroda said in an email.
“I would like to bring to your attention: my laptop, smartphone, and server have been repeatedly hacked and severely compromised over the past few weeks,” it read.
