Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says his side must run like mad dogs or stand no chance to win the Premier League.
“It’s impossible to win the Premier League without a team that doesn’t run. You can have a starting line-up with the best players on the planet, without running they won’t win either. We have to run like mad dogs, if we’re not going to win. The problem is that they can cope with it. Can they? They can improve in training. You can’t run more in training. Every coach has a different way of doing things,” he said said on the eve of United’s game.
The Portuguese manager also said that at the time United were a big club but not a big team.
“It is very clear. We are a huge club, but we are not a big team. We know, so it is not a problem to say. We have to believe more. We have some good things, but you can feel that there is a lot to do. We Should be good in the final third,” he said.
“Our players have to understand that this is a difficult situation. We are not the best team in the league, but our past is the best in the league. We have problems, but we have to focus on small details,” he added.
Amorim has two wins, one draw and one defeat as United manager since replacing interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy and Dutch manager Erik ten Haag last month.
