A task force team of the Food Safety Commissioner of Telangana inspected dairy units in Hyderabad on December 20 and found several hygiene violations.

Inspectors at Durga Dairy Products in Sultan Bazar found the ceilings wide and the floors thin in some places. The unit lacked a proper drainage system, and expired food products, including artificial flavoring agents, flavorings such as vanilla and lemon, were found to have expired and were promptly discarded. Additionally, the doors were not properly sealed, posing a risk of kit penetration.

At NR Milk House in Amberpet, the internal structures made of sheet iron were rusted, and the floors were uneven, stained and waterlogged, smelling foul. The facility had a single toilet that opened directly into the construction area, creating a contamination risk. Both production and storage were carried out under unsanitary conditions. Pest control measures were absent as pests such as domesticated fish, mosquitoes and cockroaches were observed. Inspectors also noted garbage bags, wooden logs and plastic containers thrown on the floor, further compromising hygiene, a statement said.
