The Ladki Bahin Yojana in Maharashtra resumed on Tuesday (December 24, 2024) and beneficiaries will receive the December payments in the next four days, state women and child development minister Aditi Tatkare said.

This plan was stopped after the code of conduct for the Constituent Assembly election.

“In the winter session, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that facilities would be provided to women by the end of December,” said Ms Tatkare.

“The scheme, which was temporarily halted due to the model code of conduct, has been resumed in the first phase with around 1,287,503 women receiving financial assistance,” she posted on X.

Mr. Fadnavis, his aides Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde have credited the scheme for the Mahayuti’s landslide victory in the assembly elections.

Under this scheme, women in the age group of 21 to 60 years are eligible to receive Rs 1500 per month. So far, the government has disbursed five installments to the beneficiaries of the scheme in which more than 2.43 crore women have been enrolled.

Mahayuti had promised a monthly salary of 2,100 rupees during the election campaign. Mr. Fadnavis has promised to fulfill the election promises by making an implementation plan.

“Our sisters have shown a lot of love in the Mahayuti, so as soon as the session ends, we will credit the December installment,” the Chief Minister had said in the Assembly in Nagpur.
