4 members of a family have died and 10 others have been injured in a road accident in Sri Sathya Sai district

Four members of a family died on the spot and 10 others were seriously injured when a 12-seater tempo collided with a parked lorry in Bullasamudram village of Sriko Madaksira mandal. Sathya Sai District on NH-44 on Saturday (December 21, 2024) morning.

According to the Madaksira police, a group from KN Palle village in Gudiband mandal of the district was returning from Tirumala after a visit. At around 5:30 am, their vehicle hit the back of a parked lorry at high speed. Ironically, their birthplace was about 40 km away from the crash site.

The deceased are Ratnamma (69), her daughter Premkumari (30), son-in-law Manoj (30 – driver), and granddaughter Antava (2).

The ten injured, related to each other, were taken to a government hospital in Madakasira and later to private hospitals in Hindupur and Bengaluru. Four of them are said to be in serious condition.

The police suspect that the accident may have occurred due to sleepiness of the driver.

Sri Sathya Sai District Minister S Savita spoke to the police and district officials about the accident and directed the authorities concerned to provide quality healthcare to the injured.

Superintendent of Police V Ratna and senior police officers reached the spot and called the injured to Madaksira hospital.

The police have registered a case and started further investigation.
