Tamil Nadu’s tourism industry is poised to create 2.5 million jobs

Chennai: The state’s tourism sector has grown phenomenally in the last two years as it has 43,283 ancient temples, 18 animal sanctuaries, five national parks, 17 bird sanctuaries, five tiger reserves, six domestic and 287.1 million people from abroad. 1076 km coastal stretch with UNESCO heritage sites and numerous beaches.

An official press release said that in the next five years, tourism will contribute 12 percent to the state’s gross domestic product and create 2.5 million jobs in the sector.
