12-year-old Delhi student’s death: CM Atishi meets relatives, magistrate orders probe | Delhi News

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Thursday ordered a magisterial probe into the death of a Class 6 student at a school in south Delhi earlier this week. The report will be submitted within three days.

The Chief Minister also met the boy’s family at his house.

A 12-year-old boy died Tuesday morning after an “argument” with a classmate, the school said. The classmate was arrested on Wednesday.

Raising concerns about the safety of students in Delhi schools amid the “deteriorating law and order situation” in the capital, Atishi said the education department had set up a committee to probe the matter.

“If any negligence is found on the part of the school, the responsible will be dealt with strictly.” This is a very serious incident that raises questions about the safety of students in Delhi’s schools,” she said.

The Delhi Police, meanwhile, said the fight between the two students broke out soon after the teacher left the classroom around 8.30 am.

CCTV footage of the incident shows four or five boys, but two boys are seen fighting. “The boy in custody can be seen strangling the victim… The post-mortem report will reveal the actual cause of death,” a police official said, adding that they were awaiting the report.

Before this, a case was filed not for murder, but for dutiful killing. No injuries were seen on the child’s body.
