A woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad on Thursday filed a complaint with the police against her husband and in-laws, accusing her of verbally giving her triple talaq after praising the role of the police in controlling the violence in the state’s Sambhal. Confirming the incident, Moradabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Satpal Antil said that the 36-year-old woman’s complaint has been forwarded to the area women’s police station.
A woman from Kathghar area has filed a complaint against her husband and father-in-law. She said that she was given triple talaq after watching the video of the violence in Sambhal and praising the police. She has made many other allegations,’ said SSP Antil.

In her complaint, the woman said that she had divorced her husband three times Sambhal has warned against watching videos of violence. “I told him that the role of the police in controlling large-scale violence was commendable,” she said in the complaint.
The woman told the senior police officer that she married a man from Kathghar in 2012 and divorced in 2021. They have three children, she said. Later, she said, she met a man who got a job in Gurugram district and they got physical after promising to marry her in October 2021. When he allegedly backed off, the woman said he threatened to go to the police, after which she married him.
“After a few days he and my father-in-law started harassing me physically and mentally for dowry. On 31 October, he forced me to leave the house with my children,” she said in her complaint.
She claimed that she went to Gurugram on Thursday to resolve the dispute with her husband. While waiting for him in his office, she said she watched a video of Sambhal violence. “When my husband came there and saw me watching the video, he told me not to watch it. I told him I liked the role of Sambhal police. He got angry and declared triple talaq,” the woman alleged.
