Two police personnel were found dead after being shot and injured in Udhampur district on Sunday morning, with officials suspecting fratricide as the cause of the incident.

A policeman’s bullet-riddled body was spotted inside a police van outside the Kali Mata temple in the district headquarters around 6:30 am, officials said.

They said that a police team was dispatched to the spot and the body was kept at District Hospital Udhampur for post-mortem.

Initial reports suggested that two police personnel were killed when they opened fire on each other, the official said.
