As the festive season approaches, with cakes, colorful lights, bells and jingles everywhere, musicians from Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI), National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA) return to Ranga Shankar with their highly anticipated concert, A classic Christmason December 20 and 21.

The concert will also perform Strauss’s iconic Blue DanubeTurned into a medley of lovely traditional Christmas carols.
speaking with HinduBianca Mendonca, General Manager, SOI and Western Classical Music (NCPA), said the Symphony Orchestra of India, established in 2006, has become the only professional orchestra in the country. “While SOI aims to train more Indians in Western Classical Music through the efforts of the SOI Music Academy, it continues to invite globally acclaimed soloists, conductors and composers from various parts of the world to provide world-class orchestral experiences at its home. NCPA at Mumbai ,” she said.

Bianca said SOI loved performing at Rang Sankara because of its beautiful acoustics and warm audience. “Bengaluru is a culturally rich and vibrant city and has great potential for large-scale Western classical music events. With the continued support of the public, we hope to bring our Mumbai concert lineup here soon,” he added.
What adds to SOI’s awaited concert is Ranga Shankara’s acoustics. The venue’s natural sound, free of any external amplification, creates an exceptional listening experience that elevates every performance. The acoustics ensure that every note from the SOI resonates with clarity, providing an immersive and intimate relationship between the musicians and the audience, Rebecca said.
Arundhati Nag, Managing Trustee of Rang Sankara, said Theater Space believes in bringing the best to Bengaluru audiences and SOI is one of the top events to host. “SOI, by NCPA, has been coming to Rangshankar at least once a year for many years. It’s a kind of pact between us and NCPA. Every year we open the doors of the best western classical music to the country through them. We get to play hosts for them in our exclusive auditorium. Proudly, it’s a natural chamber music space with no mics,” he added.
Concert for children
SOI will also present a special concert for children, A symphony of colorsDesigned to introduce them to the magical connection between music and color. This concert invites young listeners to explore how different musical tones can evoke the vibrancy of emotions and colors.
Interactive performances provide a fun and engaging way for children to connect with their creativity and emotions, fostering a deeper appreciation for music and art. A concert will be held on November 21 at 11 am for children in the age group of seven to 12 years.
