The state government has decided to conduct a forensic audit of all transactions through the Dharani portal to find out the extent of the alleged irregularities in land transactions over the past few years.

Revenue Minister Panguleti Srinivasa Reddy made the announcement in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, responding to doubts expressed by BJP floor leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy over the tacit understanding between the Congress and the main opposition BRS on land deals. Mr. Maheshwar Reddy wondered why the government was hesitating to conduct an inquiry by the CBI or a sitting judge or a special investigation team into irregularities worth thousands of crores of rupees.

The government is committed to protect the interests of the common people and farmers. We will conduct a forensic audit of the misuse and transactions of the Dharani portal by the previous government,’ he said. He said that the government is committed to return the land that has been misused by BRS leaders for the past few years.

The minister has strongly objected to the claim of BRS member T Harish Rao that the government has canceled the agreement to lease the outer ring road for 30 years if there is any doubt. “An investigation is required to cancel the agreement and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced the formation of a special investigation team to probe the issue. “We will take necessary action after the report,” he said.

On the demand of Mr. Maheshwar Reddy in the CBI investigation, Mr. Panguleti said that the government will take action once the baseline report on the irregularities in the Dharani and Telangana Rights in Land and Pattadar Passbook Act, 2020 is prepared. At the same time, he asked the members of MIM, BJP and CPI to explain the information about the embezzlement of land in the name of Dharani and the rights act made by the previous government.
