Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Monday appealed to Sri Lankan President Anura Dissanayake to consider the release of Tamil Nadu fishermen detained by the Sri Lankan Navy and the return of their captured boats. Dissanayake is on an official visit to India.
In a social media post, Mr. Stalin embedded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s social media post in which he shared pictures of his meeting with Mr. Dissanayake.
“Encouraging that the Hon’ble President of Sri Lanka, @anuradisanayake, is engaging in discussions with our Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi to address the concerns of the Tamil fishermen in a humane and peaceful manner. The conflict,” Mr Stalin said.
Reiterating TN’s request to the President of Sri Lanka to consider the release of TN fishermen from Sri Lankan custody, Mr. Stalin said: “Such a gesture will instill confidence in these discussions and mark a constructive step towards a stronger relationship and a prosperous future between our two nations.”
