NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (Dec 18, 2024), weeks after the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was defeated by the BJP-led grand alliance in the Maharashtra assembly elections.
Mr. Pawar met the Prime Minister at his Parliament office along with two farmers from Phaltan in western Maharashtra and gifted him a box of pomegranates from his farm.
Recently, Mr. Pawar had written to the Prime Minister inviting him to inaugurate the 98th Marathi Literary Conference to be held at Talkatora Stadium in the national capital in February.
After the meeting with the Prime Minister, Pawar said, “I have not promoted the issue of Sahitya Sammelan.”
In the Maharashtra assembly elections last month, the Congress-NCP (SP)-Shiv Sena (UBT) alliance – MVA – suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP grand alliance.
The Mahayuti won 235 seats, while the MVA was reduced to 46 in the 288-member assembly.
