Raipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that by March 2026, all security forces and agencies should make a concerted effort to eradicate left-wing extremism completely.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will play a very important role in this effort, Shah said while presiding over a review meeting to assess the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) situation in Chhattisgarh on Monday.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary and Director Generals of Police and Director Generals of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), an official statement said.
In the meeting, Shah asked all powers and agencies to make joint efforts to achieve the goal of complete eradication of LW by March 2026, the statement said.
The Chhattisgarh Police and other security forces have coordinated very well in the fight against Naxalism and have inflicted maximum damage on the extremists in the last one year, which is a major success, the statement quoted Shah as saying.
“We have a lot of work to do to eliminate Naxalism before March 2026. The National Investigation Agency will play a very important role in this effort,” Shah said.
Expressing confidence that Naxalism would be eradicated before March 2026, the Union Minister said that CRPF, along with ITBP, BSF, Chhattisgarh Police and District Reserve Guard (DRG) are on track to achieve a much bigger target in a year.
Earlier, he visited the Gundam Forward Operating Base of the security forces in Bijapur district and reviewed the operational preparations.
