Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) has won six National Energy Conservation Awards for 2024 to reduce energy consumption at railway stations and hospitals. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar presented the award in New Delhi.
In the hospital sector, Guntakal Divisional came first and in the railway station sector, Renigunta and Jammikunta came second. Merit certificates were awarded to Central Hospital, Lalaguda, Hyderabad and Nizamabad Railway Station.
Guntakal Hospital has saved energy by using solar water heaters, LED lights and energy efficient equipment. Renigunta station reduced energy consumption from 7.17 lakh units to 2.73 lakh units and Jammikunta from 2.08 lakh units to 0.85 lakh units.
Lalaguda Hospital implemented inverter AC, natural daylight system, and automatic water pumps, while Hyderabad station used LED lighting, timers, and energy efficient equipment. The Nizamabad station incorporated occupancy sensors, daylight pipes and energy savers.
