The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has asked city schools to identify children of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and not issue birth certificates to such persons. The meeting also included preventive measures from all departments. The Education Department is required to conduct an enrollment check and verification campaign on the existence of illegal immigrant children from Bangladesh in all municipal schools. Also, public health is set to ensure that no Bangladeshi migrant is issued with an illegal birth certificate. They are also obliged to verify all existing certificates which may differ in some cases.
MCD Deputy Commissioner BP Bhardwaj said vigilance and concerted efforts are needed from all departments. The MCD has issued instructions that the performance report should be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) every week by 3:30 PM on Friday. All school heads must submit their compliance reports by December 31. These measures will address the problem of illegal encroachment and implement the directives.
