Same to him.
Award established by Hindu The group was presented to Krishna by the Sangeet Academy in Chennai on Sunday evening after the Madras High Court on Saturday evening set aside a single-judge order restraining the academy from doing so.
V Srinivasan, Subbulakshmi’s grandson, approached the court challenging the decision to give the award to Krishna. Offensive remarks against the late singerAwarded Bharat Ratna.
Issuing the notice, a bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhati said, “While all the rival parties in the case have presented their arguments through their respective lawyers, the court is aware of the respect and esteem MS Subbulakshmi enjoys among music lovers. All across the spectrum. She is one of the most iconic singers and even though she passed away in December 2004, her melodious voice continues to bring great joy to all her fans. Along with this, defendant no. 4 (TM Krishna)’s articles and comments describing the singer were his way of expressing his respect for the singer, but the words used by the defendant are certainly felt by the plaintiff. .4 were, to say the least, not in good taste.
“Since the award was conferred on 15.12.2024, we find it appropriate to say that respondent No. 4 TM Krishna should not be recognized as the recipient of the Sangeetha Kalanidhi MS Subbulakshmi Award. He is also barred from presenting himself as the recipient of the Sangeeta Kalanidhi MS Subbulakshmi award.
The Bench added, “It should be clear that the Sangeet Academy has a proud legacy, especially in the field of music where their contribution is recognized internationally. The reputation of The Hindu Group, which sponsors the awards, is the same. This interim order should not be viewed as a reflection on Sangeet Academy or Hindu Publications.
This order “should not even be considered as a comment by the Court on the singing capacity of respondent No. 4.”
When a lawyer appearing for one of the defendants asked if the ban was only until the next hearing date, Justice Bhati said, “It is not that urgent. We will listen.”
