NEET Candidates Raped, Blackmailed by 2 Famous Coaching Teachers in Kanpur

A few months ago, a teacher was also arrested for sexually abusing another student.

Kanpur:

A minor, who had gone to Kanpur to prepare for the NEET medical entrance exam, was raped and blackmailed for months by two well-known teachers of a popular coaching center in the city. Police said a teacher was arrested a few months ago after CCTV footage of him allegedly sexually assaulting another student was released, giving the victim the courage to finally file a complaint.

Both teachers have been arrested.

A police official said that the student had gone to Kanpur to prepare for the 2022 exams and was admitted to a coaching center there. In January this year, her biology teacher, 32-year-old Sahil Siddiqui, invited her to a party at his home that was meant for all students. However, when the young woman reached her flat, she realized that she was alone. She has alleged that Siddiqui drugged her and raped her and took a video of the act.

The victim told the police that Siddiqui threatened to release the video and kill the family and raped her several times. He held her hostage in his flat for a while and then forced her to attend a party. During one such party, she was raped by her 39-year-old chemistry teacher Vikas Porwal. The survivor was a minor at the time.

The student said that she went home to meet her parents on Holi and Siddiqui asked her to return after threatening to harm the family if she did not answer the call.

A video of Siddiqui allegedly sexually assaulting another student went viral recently and he was released on bail. An official said this would allay the student’s fear and lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered on Friday and both Siddiqui and Porwal were arrested the same night.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Pandey said, “The student has said that she was raped by the accused separately. A case has been registered and two people have been arrested and are being questioned. The student was a minor at the time and we were asked not to share many details.”
