State-level boxer and Delhi University student Arjun Tanwar (20), who was arrested for strangling his parents and sister in Neb Sarai on Wednesday, has claimed that his father insulted him and his girlfriend by saying that he wanted to marry her. Police said on Friday.
An official said that Arjun wanted to get married but his father Rajesh Kumar Tanwar opposed the charge, as the accused was unemployed.
A week before the murder, Rajesh had seen Arjun walking with his girlfriend in a nearby market. Confronted with him… When Arjun introduced the girl as his girlfriend and said that he wanted to get married, Rajesh slapped him in front of his girlfriend and also abused him. Rajesh also said that since he is the only earning member of the family, how can he think of getting married without getting a job,’ said the official.
During interrogation, Arjun allegedly told the police that one of his father’s recent explosions was heard by workers in a neighboring under-construction building. The workers laughed at Arjuna. This made him feel more humiliated,’ said the official.
On Wednesday morning, Arjun was accused of slitting the throats of father ex-armyman Rajesh (51), mother Komal (46) and sister Kavita (23). The police claimed that Arjun had a strained relationship with his family and that they had given priority to his sister and were about to transfer the family property in her name.
