Nalgonda: The authority has planned to promote tourism in three hills of Nalgonda city. Officials have prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) with a budget of Rs 114 crore for the construction of ghat road in the middle of the city up to Latif Saheb and Brahmagari hill.
The BRS government had earlier planned to build an eco-tourism park at Latheef Saheed Hill but failed to take any initiative during its 10-year tenure.
Latif Saheed Darha is located on Latif Saheed Hill while VeerBrahmendra Swamy Temple is located on Brahmagari Hill. Officials expect that the construction of the ghat road will increase the number of devotees and nature lovers at those religious places. Additionally, the Forest Department has decided to set up an Eco Tourism Park at Annaram Hill on Musampally Road within the Nalgonda Municipality. The Eco Tourism Park will also have a children’s play area and a walking track.
Initiated by Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, the state government has submitted a proposal to the Center to develop infrastructure in these hills under the Bharatmala project.
Local resident Palagudu Sai Kumar said that most of the parks in the colony lack greenery and are in the form of open spaces. He said that the three hills boast of greenery and trees, so it looks like a forest. However, now there is no ghat road and it is risky to reach the peak. He believes that the provincial government’s decision to build the ghat road will create greenery in the city.
Nalgonda Municipal President Buri Srinivasa Reddy said efforts will be made to develop parks in the city. Also, new projects will be undertaken to promote tourism in Nalgonda.
The historic temples, Chhaya Someswaralam and Pachala Someswaralayam, dating back to the Kakatiya rulers, are located 3 km from Nalgonda town. The authority is also studying the possibility of building a ropeway on one of the mountains to further support tourism development.
