Australian batsman Sam Konstas, who has been called up to the squad for the remaining two matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against India, said he got the news while he was in net practice.
“When I got the call from George Bailey, I was actually in the nets, and he told me he was in the Test team. “I was very excited. I immediately called my parents and they were very emotional,” Kishori said.
“Mom was in tears; I was trying not to cry and dad was so proud. It’s been an amazing journey with all the ups and downs. I’m so grateful for their sacrifice,” he added.

The young prospect, who replaced Nathan McSweeney in the squad, scored an impressive century against India while representing the Prime Minister’s XI in a warm-up match in Canberra earlier this month.
“Sam has been called up to the Test team for the first time. His batting style provides a point of difference and we look forward to seeing his game develop further. We are confident Nathan (McSweeney) has the ability and temperament to succeed at Test level in the future. It was a difficult decision to let him go.” “It has obviously been a challenge for the batsmen at the top of the order throughout the series and we want to provide a different line-up option for the next two games,” selector Bailey said on Friday.
With changes in the batting department, the selectors have replaced West Australia’s Jay Richardson after Josh Hazlewood was ruled out of the series due to injury.
