Tirupati:Tirupati MP Dr Madila Gurumurthy expressed concern over various rail related issues in the Tirupati parliamentary constituency during zero hour of Parliament on Monday. He emphasized that it should be addressed immediately and drew the attention of the central government.
Highlighting the growing rail traffic, Gurumurthy emphasized the need to build a third railway line between Renigunta and Gudur. He said that this line will reduce the burden on the existing tracks and facilitate fast travel. He urged the government to speed up the construction of a new railway line between Pudi and Yerpedu which would play an important role in enhancing connectivity and increasing local economic resources.
The MP pointed out that many train stops were closed during the Covid-19 pandemic and requested their restoration, especially at Vendodu, Naidupeta and Sullurpeta stations. He argued that rehabilitating these stops would improve transportation facilities for commuters in the region.
Additionally, he called for MEMU train services between Tirupati-Nellore and Tirupati-Kadapa to benefit daily commuters.
Expressing concern over the narrow underpass at Ambedkar Nagar in Gudur, Gurumurthy highlighted the serious traffic problems it causes. He asked for its extension to ease the situation. He also proposed to start Vande Bharat sleeper train service between Tirupati and Visakhapatnam to provide faster travel options to passengers.
The MP appealed to start a new train service connecting Tirupati with Varanasi and Ayodhya which would effectively serve pilgrims and commuters. Presenting these issues, Gurumurthy urged the Railway Minister to prioritize these projects and expedite their implementation to address the urgent needs of the sector.
