BhopalMohan Yadav’s cabinet on Thursday gave administrative approval to 16 projects under the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal river linking project.
The state cabinet meeting held here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav approved the modified Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal river linking project to be operated in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan and gave administrative approval to these projects.
Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, State Water Resources Minister Tulsi Silwat said that an MoU was signed on January 28, 2024 between the Centre, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan to prepare a detailed project report for the revised Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal river linking project. Lesser East Rajasthan Canal Project.
The center will bear 90 percent of the cost of the project, while Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan will bear 10 percent of the cost of the project in their respective states.
The project proposes to provide irrigation to 4.73 lakh hectares in 1865 villages under 10 districts of Guna, Shivpuri, Morena, Ujjain, Sihore, Indore, Dewas, Agar Malwa, Shajapur and Raigad in Madhya Pradesh.
Under the project, Chambal right canal system will be modernized and irrigation will be provided to 1,205 villages in Bhind, Morena and Sheopur districts of the state in an area of ​​362,000 hectares.
The estimated cost of the proposed projects in Madhya Pradesh in the river linking project is Rs 35,000 crore.
The Cabinet also approved the Madhya Pradesh Birth and Death Registration Rules, 2024.
