Mohammad Siraj on sending off Travis Head: It’s a lie that he called me ‘well bold’ | Cricket News

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy needed some spice. And the Travis Head versus Mohammad Siraj incident on the second day of the pink ball Test has given the series a chance to spice things up for the remaining three Tests.

Australia batsman Travis Head said he was disappointed with his dismissal – both with the fiery send-off India pacer Mohammad Siraj gave him. A heated exchange followed as Siraj exchanged a few words and nodded towards the dressing room.

“I said ‘good bowling’ but he thought otherwise … when he pointed at me in the shed he backed away from me a bit,” Head told Fox Cricket after the day’s play. “I’m a little disappointed with how it went in the last few innings. It is what it is. If they want to respond that way and if they want to represent themselves, then so be it.

Siraj does not agree

However, Mohammad Siraj disagreed with Head’s comments and said that the Australian opener had lied about the sent-off incident.

“It was a good fight. I loved his bowling. He batted really well for his 140,” Siraj told Start Sports.

“When you hit your best ball for a six, it’s kind of annoying. It ignites your passion. When I got him out, I celebrated but he scolded me,” Siraj said.

“It’s a lie that he called me ‘good bowling’.

“You can see what he actually said on TV. At first, I just celebrated but he was the one who started the conversation. In the press conference he said ‘good bowling’. You can go and check the highlights again.

After Siraj hit a four and a six in that over, Border called for a yorker to end Head’s brilliant 141-ball 140 on the second day of the second Test of the Gavaskar Trophy. Then Siraj and Head exchanged glances and words. (Screengrabs: cricket.com.au)

“We do not insult anyone. I respect every cricketer. Cricket is a gentleman’s game but the way things were done after getting out was inevitable,” he said.

Harbhajan supported Siraj

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who made history with Australian cricket, supported Siraj and praised his bowling performance.

“You are right Siraj. He will remember that ball for a long time. And he certainly didn’t say “good bold”! The whole of Australia must have seen it.

“You’re right. He (Travis Head) never said ‘good bowling’. Australians don’t say that to anyone. I’ve had my fair share of battles with them in the past.

“You should be proud of yourself. You were outstanding,” Harbhajan said.
