Members of CPI, AIMIM, Congress want to boycott agricultural land for Rithu Bharosa

Members of the Congress, Communist Party of India and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen have suggested the state government not to provide investment assistance to farmers in non-cultivable lands under the Raithu Bharosa scheme as more than Rs 21,000 crore has gone to waste. of barren, barren, hill and land holders converted to non-agricultural purposes.

Participating in a short discussion on Rithu Bharosa in the Parliament on Saturday, Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, a single member of the CPN, asked the government to first prepare the data on cultivable land. He pointed out that the house owners, stone crushers and those who kept the land converted for non-agricultural purposes around the urban areas illegally claimed the Rithu Bandhu amount given by the previous government by taking Pattadar passbook.

Further, he suggested the government to invest up to 15 acres to the farmers and if possible to the majority of the land owners as most of them are engaged in agriculture as there is no remunerative work. He also wanted the government to extend this facility to farmers cultivating podu, godown and waqf land and to tenant farmers.

Congress member T. Rammohan Reddy and B Krishnamohan Reddy of BRS who participated in the Congress, Rythu Bharosa suggested that benefits should be given to all farmers irrespective of the extent of cultivation as farming is not a profitable economic activity. Mr. Krishnamohan Reddy urged the government to increase the insurance coverage under Rythu Bima from the current ₹ 5 lakh to ₹ 10 lakh.

AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, who has often spoken on state debt, said a recent RBI document showed most of Telangana’s borrowing was of 10-year tenure, while some was borrowing from the current government. of 20 years or more. He also sought to know the status of the state government’s scheme of swapping short-term loans with low interest to repay long-term loans with high interest to reduce the burden of interest.

He suggested to include details of loans of state PSUs/Corporations to give a true picture to the people as there was no practice of submitting such details during the previous government.

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao said that the bonus for good varieties of rice has increased such varieties from 21 percent to 61 percent. He said that the government is promoting the cultivation of good varieties to provide quality rice to the poor under the public distribution system. He said that although he expected more suggestions for the implementation of Rithu Bharosa, the members spoke about various issues in agriculture and other sectors.
