The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) has invited proposals from organizations for developing technology tools to create a trusted AI ecosystem.
According to information published on the Meity website, as part of the IndiaAI mission, the ‘Safe and Trusted AI’ pillar envisages the development of indigenous tools and frameworks and self-assessment checklists for innovators to put in place adequate railings to drive responsible adoption. AI.
“To spearhead this movement, IndiaAI is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from individuals and organizations who wish to lead AI development projects to promote accountability, reduce AI harm and promote fairness in AI practices,” the proposal note said.
Meity has invited proposals for watermarking and labeling tools to authenticate AI-generated content, ensuring it is traceable, safe and free of harmful ingredients.
Meity’s proposal calls for establishing AI frameworks that are consistent with global standards, that AI respects human values ββand promotes fairness. This includes the creation of deepfake detection tools to enable real-time identification and mitigation of deepfakes, preventing misinformation and harm for a safe and reliable digital ecosystem.
Meity seeks to create risk management tools and frameworks to enhance the safe deployment of AI in public services and stress-test tools to assess how AI models perform under extreme conditions, detect vulnerabilities, and increase confidence in AI for critical applications.
